I know Free Comic Book Day was Saturday, but I've been busy so I'm only getting around to talking about it now.

Saturday I went with [livejournal.com profile] cjspooks and our friend Liz to our local comic book store to get us some free comics.  I also gave Liz the comics basics, as she's just starting to get into it.  I gave her the final push she needed after we saw Kick-Ass, and so she's starting with Civil War and trying to work her way up to Seige.  I think she got the Seige titles too...  [livejournal.com profile] cjspooks is a Vertical fangirl, and so she got Vetical trades (Hellblazer, I think, and some others).  I got this:

Granted most of those are things I got for free, but...

(Everything but deadpool was free)

All and all it's not too bad.  I wound up getting a $10 credit at my store for the next time I come in for buying so much.  (Liz got $20, she spent that much).  I also enjoyed the titles that I did pick up, especially the Nomad 4 part series.

I picked it up because I knew the Young Avengers were in the last one, and so I was curious about the rest of the title.

However, I didn't like either of the Seige tie-ins that much.  I thought that I missed something as I was completely lost in the beginning of Mighty Avengers, and I frankly didn't give a damn about the Hood in the New Avengers.

As for the free comics, they were all right.  The marvel ones were cheap one-shots, but I wasn't expecting anything less (then again the New Avengers one from last year was actually pretty good).  The Green Hornet one did it's job and peaked my interest in the title, and the sixth gun seems like it might be an interesting title, but I probably won't end up picking it up (I have enough on my plate already).  The Lady Gaga comic was terrible, and not because of Lady Gaga, but rather for a lack of it.  It was just some weird nerd ranting about music and how awesome Lady Gaga was.

I like your taste in comics! :O I was seriously wanting to buy almost all of the titles you have pictured.

Ah, it's too bad about the Lady Gaga book. I was kind of sadfaced that they had run out by the time I got to the comic shop, but it seems I didn't miss much.

Really? Well like I said in the post, most of them I really enjoyed.

yeah, you really didn't. Plus, if you really want to read it the free one was only a preview, the real ones coming out in either may or june so you could pick up the full one then (or at the very least just flip through it). Why they didn't just make a comic based on GaGa's fabulous self I'll never know.

Oh, and it wasn't just a comic on lady gaga. No, it was 1/3rd lady gaga, 1/3 taylor swift, and 1/3 this child comic called "the puppy sister" that creeped me out because they kept referring to the dog as something like "a fur person" or something creepy like that.
