At first I couldn't think of one... And then I remembered I had this game in my DS collection:

Final Fantasy Fables: Chocobo Tales Cover

Yes, Final Fantasy Fables: Chocobo Tales.  Normally I don't care much for "cutesy" games, but it looked like a decent game so I picked it up.  As I haven't played this game in forever, I tried turning to wikipedia for the plot, but they really weren't helpful.  So forgive me as I try to fuzzily remember.

Character art

Basically there was this girl named Shirma, and Chocobo the Chocobo who found this book that shouldn't be opened, but they didn't know that and opened it, and as a result unleashed evil into the world.  They then set off to find the picture books that would set things right to save the world.  Each of the picture books were famous fables adapted to fit the Final Fantasy universe, and once they found the book they were transported into them to solve a series of mini-games to complete the book and read the entire story.

Battle scene

There were some villains that tried to stop you or use the books for their own purposes.  Eventually you'd wind up fighting them, and the fights were Yu-Gi-Oh style card battles.

Card battles ahoy!

Surprisingly, it's really fun for a game geared for younger children, and the mini games are interesting enough to not feel like a chore.

Mini games!

The graphics (for a DS game) are gorgeous and adorable without being overdosed with cute, like similar games.

Shirma, Croma, and Chocobo

The reason I picked up the game in the first place?  I had the plushie.

Part of my plushie collection

There's one for the Wii... I got it for my brother for Christmas the year it came out. He had glared at me, and said it was a girl's game.... then beat it in like a day.

LOL at your brother. Did he enjoy it?
